Hot Tub Filters Keep Your Hot Tub Water Sparkling Clean
The hot tub filter is essential to clean and clear water. Without a hot tub filter, it is impossible to maintain clean, clear, safe hot tub water for you to enjoy. Filtration, circulation and sanitation are the keys to significant water; if anyone is underperforming, it will be almost impossible to achieve. A hot tub filter uses a pleated media to filter out particles of about 20 microns. Disposable hot tub filters will trap particles as small as 1 micron, but they must be disposed of instead of cleaned. We recommend a standard hot tub filter because they are simple to clean and reuse. Cleaning your hot tub filter about once per month will ensure it continues to perform well. Adding a hot tub/spa clarifier when initially filing the hot tub and weekly will help the filter trap smaller particles. The clarifier coagulates the small particles into larger ones to help the filter perform better. But remember, adding hot tub water clarifiers increases the need to clean the filter due to the increased amount of debris it will trap.
Replace Your Hot Tub Filter Annually for the Best Performance
Some people claim they put their hot tub filter in the dishwasher to clean, but this is not the best idea. The dishwasher pushes the dirt further into the media, and greases and oils need the right cleaning products to remove them. Soaking a hot tub filter in a proper cleaning solution will dissolve calcium and mineral buildup, grease, and oils. Convenient spray-on cleaners and spray-off devices make cleaning much more manageable. Soaking in a bucket or purpose-built hot tub filter cleaning canister is a great way to maintain proper filtration. Keep in mind that a hot tub filter only lasts so long. The hot water and chemicals eventually break down the filter media and render it useless. For this reason, we recommend that you replace your hot tub filter annually. Northern Leisure Products stocks and sells hot tub filters for Northern Hot Tubs and a wide range of other hot tub parts and hot tub accessories.
